Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on scanandgenerate.jathans.com (the “Website”), and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes everything else we do with personal data.
The mobile app is covered separately — it does not use cookies. See the “Mobile Application” section of the Privacy Policy.
The short version
We set no cookies at all unless you press “Accept” on the banner. Nothing is loaded from Google, and no identifier is stored, until you do. If you press “Reject”, or simply ignore the banner, the Website works exactly the same and we learn nothing about your visit beyond what our web host records in its server logs.
Strictly necessary storage
One item is stored regardless of your choice, because it is your choice:

This does not require consent, because storing it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for: honouring your cookie decision.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets the following first-party cookies. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and, for the storage itself, ePrivacy Art. 5(3) / UK PECR reg. 6).

Accepting also allows your IP address to be transmitted to Google in order to make the request at all. We enable IP anonymisation, Google’s advertising features and Google Signals are switched off, and we do not use Analytics data for advertising. Google may process this data in the United States; see the “International transfers” section of our Privacy Policy for the safeguards that apply.
What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies. The Website carries no ads.
- No social media pixels, embeds or share widgets.
- No session recording, heatmaps or A/B testing tools.
- No third-party fonts or CDNs. Fonts are served from this domain, so no request is made to Google Fonts.
- No cookies from the free online tools. Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser — the text, URLs, passwords and codes you enter are never sent to a server.
Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving consent:
- Select “Cookie Settings” in the footer of any page. The banner reopens and you can choose again.

Choosing “Reject” stops any further analytics collection immediately and
deletes the
_gacookies already on your device. - You can also clear cookies and site data for this domain through your browser settings, or use your browser’s “Do Not Track” / private browsing features.
- Google offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics across all websites: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
Server logs
Independently of cookies, our web hosting provider records standard server log data (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer, user agent) as part of operating and securing the server. This happens for every visitor and does not rely on cookies, so consent does not apply; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the Website available and secure (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie, we will update this page. If we add anything that needs your consent, we will ask you again rather than relying on a choice you made about a different set of cookies.
