Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Advanced QR & Barcode Scanner app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Prasanna Angara Jathan (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as an ad-supported service with an optional one-time lifetime premium purchase. The Application is available on both Android and iOS, and is intended for use "AS IS".
Information Collection and Use
The Application itself does not maintain a server-side account or profile for you. The information described below is collected by the third-party services integrated into the Application (primarily Google AdMob for ads and RevenueCat for purchases) and used as described in each provider's own privacy policy. The Service Provider may receive aggregated reports from those providers.
The categories of data collected through the Application include:
- Device identifiers — the Google Advertising ID on Android; the IDFA on iOS only when you grant App Tracking Transparency permission. A pseudonymous app-install identifier is also used by AdMob and RevenueCat to track entitlements and ad delivery.
- Device and OS information — operating system version, device model, app version, and approximate language / region (inferred from device settings).
- Network information — your IP address, transmitted to AdMob when an ad request is made and to RevenueCat when a purchase or restore is processed. Neither the Service Provider nor RevenueCat uses your IP for precise geolocation.
- Product interaction — the Application's own coarse, in-app event names (e.g. "scan completed", "premium screen viewed") are recorded locally and are not currently transmitted off-device. Separately, the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK collects its own product-interaction data to deliver and measure advertising; that data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Purchase data — product ID, purchase date, and platform-issued transaction identifiers, passed to RevenueCat so your premium entitlement can be restored across devices on the same Apple ID or Google account.
- Diagnostic data — the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK collects crash logs and performance metrics (such as load times and error rates) in order to maintain ad delivery and SDK stability. This diagnostic data is not linked to your identity and is used for analytics and app functionality. (This is separate from the optional Firebase crash reporting noted under "Planned services" below.)
The Application does not collect: precise GPS location, your contacts, calendar, microphone, payment card details, account passwords, photos beyond images you explicitly select for scanning, or the contents of QR codes or barcodes you scan or generate.
Scan history, saved codes, notes, tags, and your styling preferences (colors, gradients, frames, logos) are stored locally on your device only. They are not transmitted to the Service Provider's servers. You can export this data manually via the in-app backup feature; if you choose to export, the resulting file is handled by the share targets you select (e.g. iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email) and is governed by those services' own policies.
The Application has no push notifications and sends no marketing email. If you contact support at the address below, your email address is used solely to respond to your request and is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the matter and meet any record-keeping obligations.
The Application does not require account registration.
Device Permissions
The Application requests the following permissions:
- Camera — required to scan barcodes and QR codes. Image frames are processed on-device and are never uploaded.
- Photo Library (read) — used when you choose to scan a QR or barcode from an existing photo, or when you select a logo image for a branded QR code.
- Photo Library (add) — used when you save a generated barcode image to your photo library.
- Face ID / Touch ID (iOS) / Biometric (Android) — optional, only when you enable the premium biometric-lock feature for your scan history. The Application does not access your biometric data; the device's operating system performs the verification.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS) — requested at first launch to determine whether personalized advertising is permitted. If declined, you will still see ads but they will be less tailored.
Third Party Access
The Application integrates the third-party services listed below. Each of these providers receives limited identifiers and request metadata (described in "Information Collection and Use" above) directly from your device in order to deliver their portion of the service — for example, AdMob receives ad-request metadata so it can return an ad, and RevenueCat receives a transaction identifier so it can restore your premium entitlement on a new device. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — advertising. Personalized ads only when you have consented via the in-app GDPR / App Tracking Transparency flow.
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — IAB-compliant consent management for ads in GDPR / CCPA regions.
- Expo — application platform; over-the-air update delivery.
- RevenueCat — manages purchase entitlements across iOS and Android.
- Google Play Billing — payment processing on Android.
- Apple In-App Purchase / App Store — payment processing on iOS.
The Service Provider may integrate the following privacy-impacting services in future releases. They are listed here so this policy remains accurate when introduced; data flow specific to each will be added when activated:
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymized in-app usage analytics (planned).
- Firebase Crashlytics — automatic crash reporting (planned).
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
In-App Purchases
This app offers an optional one-time lifetime premium purchase that unlocks premium features. It does not offer recurring subscriptions. Purchases are processed through platform billing providers such as Google Play Billing or Apple In-App Purchases.
We use RevenueCat (Privacy Policy) to manage purchases and entitlements across platforms. RevenueCat may collect:
- Purchase transaction data (e.g., product ID, purchase date, platform)
- Anonymous customer identifiers
- Entitlement status
Payment processing is handled entirely by the respective platform provider (Apple App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android). We do not collect or store any payment card or billing information.
RevenueCat does not process payments. It is used only to manage purchase status and entitlement access across platforms.
Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to information the Service Provider holds about you:
- Right of access — request a copy of the information held about you.
- Right of rectification — ask that inaccurate information be corrected.
- Right of erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask that information be deleted.
- Right to data portability — receive a machine-readable copy of your information.
- Right to withdraw consent — change your advertising / analytics consent at any time from the Application's settings, or via the in-app "Privacy & Consent" screen.
- Right to object — object to processing of your information for direct marketing or profiling.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at jathanscreatives@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. Because the Application stores user content locally on your device, the fastest way to delete it is to remove the data in-app (Settings → Clear All Data) or uninstall the Application.
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the additional rights described above plus the right to know which categories of personal information are collected and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA / CPRA.
The Service Provider does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising outside of the AdMob ad-personalization controls that you can manage at any time from the in-app "Privacy & Consent" screen. Disabling personalized ads there instructs AdMob to serve non-personalized ads, which satisfies the CCPA opt-out for advertising-related sharing.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace.
On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency permission at first launch. If permission is denied, tracking for advertising is disabled and you will see less personalized ads.
On Android, you can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Within the Application, the "Privacy & Consent" screen lets you change your personalized-ads and analytics preferences at any time.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for up to 30 days after a deletion request, unless retention is legally required longer. To request deletion, contact jathanscreatives@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request — Advanced QR & Barcode Scanner".
Children
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.
The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (jathanscreatives@gmail.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
Security
Data stored on your device (scan history, saved codes, notes, tags, styling preferences, and your in-app consent choices) is protected by the operating system's application sandbox and is isolated from other apps. Data in transit to the third-party services listed above is sent over HTTPS / TLS using each provider's SDK.
No transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is fully secure. While the Service Provider takes reasonable steps to protect your information, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
App Store Privacy Details Summary
