What is a vCard QR code?
It encodes a vCard — the standard electronic business card format — as text inside a QR code. When someone scans it, their phone recognises the format and offers to save the details straight into their contacts, rather than making them type your name, number and email by hand.
Which vCard version does this produce?
vCard 3.0, which is the version with the broadest support across iOS, Android, Outlook and macOS Contacts. Newer versions exist but are less consistently handled by phone cameras, so 3.0 is the safer choice for a printed card.
Will it work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both recognise vCard content from the camera and prompt to create a contact. What differs slightly is how much of the address each will pre-fill, so keep the fields you most care about — name, phone, email — filled in.
Are my contact details uploaded anywhere?
No. The code is generated in your browser and your details are never sent to a server, logged or stored. Nothing you type here leaves your device.
Why should I not fill in every single field?
Because every character makes the QR code denser, and a dense code printed small becomes hard to scan. Name, phone, email and company are usually enough. If you need the full profile, encode a link to it instead and keep the code sparse.
Can I update my details after printing the card?
Not with this code — the details are encoded directly into the pattern, so a reprint is the only way to change them. If your details change often, encode a URL pointing at a page you control instead, and update that page.
